The Notorious XX

I like mash ups, in many forms. Mash ups help make songs better and can make things work that you think would never work. I came across one mash up by wait what on the hypem popular charts and when I further investigated I was very intrigued to find a whole album with mash up between two of my favourite, but two very different artists, The XX, which have only recently came into my library but have instantly shot into my highest rated and the Notorius B.I.G., who has featured in my library for a good while, an incredible talent and a wordsmith and taken from the world way before his time.

My favourite of the album after my first play had to be the mash up between, Islands and Sky's the Limit, which I will upload here and if you like it, do follow the link to whole album which is being given away for free. :)

wait what - islands' the limit

Dubstepping!

Love these new dubstep tracks I've heard recently with some cracking samples.

Firstly is by Chrispy, which features Inspector Gadget, really hard on the bass which I love, and also reminds me of the under-rated film and the cartoon series which I used to watch as a minor :)

Chrispy - Inspector Gadget

Secondly is one I absolutely love, by Coven, it features the Animal Hospital and also samples of Rolf Harris. Perfect from the outset with the drums and also some hard bass. Musically excellent and also brings back memories from back in the day of watching Rolfy getting to business.

The Glitch Mob

Earlier this year at the end of January I went to Remix nightclub in Hitchin to see a Pendlum DJ set. Supporting them were The Glitch Mob, I didn't know much about them, saw their names mentioned on a few websites but never got round to listening any of their stuff, however I was pleasantly surprised by their set, I was expecting something in a similar vein to Pendulum but what I actually heard was some really hard hitting electro music. I liked what I heard and got hold of some of their tunes online, and they've been played hard on my laptop since. Their set was fairly unique, some elements reminding me a little bit of Justice, I went on their website the other day and saw there was a new free download while their site is being redesigned.

The track's called Drive It Like You Stole It and is powerful and easy to listen to at the same time, link to download to follow..

Matty G - West Coast Rocks (The Glitch Mob Remix)

The second download is the song that really stood out for me when I listened to them and adored when I got home.

Bonobo

Just got hold of Bonobo's new album Black Sands. And after a couple listens I'm pretty impressed, nice mellow stuff. Can imagine listening to it while in the bath or on a lazy sunny day. My personal favourite off the album being All In Forms, closely followed by the lead single, The Keeper (Featuring Andreya Triana).

Don't really know too much about the artist, apart from him being from the UK. The albums out on Ninja Tune so go cop it now. (Out March 29th in UK)

I actually know more about the animal than the artist due to being made to do a little research on them in science last year. They're the only other mammals known to have casual sex for pleasure don't you know..

Netsky

Netsky was an emerging name in drum and bass towards the end of last year. I first heard of him when a friend sent me a cut of Come Back Home and instantly I wanted to hear more. Original productions like Starlight and Smile and remixes of Chew Lips' Karen and Miike Snows' Black and Blue have forced his way to the top of my favourite drum and bass producers.

A new song Memory Lane has emerged which will be on the fortcoming 'Sick Music 2' compilation on Hospital Records; and I think it may be one of his strongest songs yet, a real banger.

First Post

Hey all.
I've decided to set up a blog to share with everyone my interests, primarily musically and then maybe see where it leads, anyway, tunes..

Ellie Goulding - Starry Eyed (Dexcell Remix) Mirror Link V12 by DexcellDnB

This remix has been doing the rounds on my iTunes for a little while now, Ellie Goulding has also had one of my favourite albums of the year so far. Starry Eyed one of the standouts for me and I was really happy to see it make top 10.

More posts to come..
